Suicide: Not a solution

Imahe
Yesterday, September 28, 2017, the most recent and local news hit Cebu. A successful suicide attempt of a 17-year old student of Asian College of Technology. Why a success? She tried once, twice, thrice and alas, she succeeded! And it came to me, long way has come for suicidal rates to rise and it has traveled into our minds and have successfully pull the strings off. It’s funny for others to laugh at this matter especially that they see it before their eyes but they’re blinded by the societal status that they’re keeping up for the public’s approval. What it has brought to everyone’s lives is killing us softly. According to Dr. Violeta Bautista, a clinical psychologist and director of the University of the Philippines (UP) Office of Counseling and Guidance, “Mental Health refers to a state of psycho-social well-being in which every individual realizes his/her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can be resilient in the face of extreme life events, can work pr...

My Pen: An Essential Figure

Imahe
My pen is very essential to my life as a student. It’s only about the size of my palm but it has walked with me through my studies. It may also be small but its purpose changes my world. It is slim but it can shape a country. It can even run a government with its ink. It may be in different color but they are equally important. An image I try so hard to forget but keeps running back into my head afraid that he might die wondering alone in the wilderness. Waking up one morning in an empty room. Looking around, I found no one. Not my mom. Not my sisters. And especially not my dad. No one seems to remember that I'm still here, in this room, alone. Studies s...

Imahe
